A Challenging Year – but we delivered !
We were presented with a bundle of challenges: can we or can we not hold a face to face event, do we create a virtual event, or do we both????
9th -12th March our International Women’s Day Virtual Event was available for viewing in Australia, New Zealand and other countries worldwide.
Our theme A Bold New World
Dr Lois Peeler presented a sensational Welcome to Country which was followed by our MC Adrian Nelson who welcomed us to the IWD Event
We had a new format : each speaker was interviewed by our moderator
Ian Hamm and we had a special message from New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern
Our speakers this year: Lord Mayor Sally Capp, Colin Carter AM President Geelong Football 2011-2020; Dr Megan Clark AC Chair Australian Space Agency, Dr Dean Freestone Founder& CEO Seer, Jennifer Jones Rotary International President 2022/2023
It was a vibrant conversation about Leadership with each of the speakers giving tips and ideas about succeeding in the corporate workforce.
We raised over $30.000 which was aided by our sponsors Previous and new partners like: Clarke & Co, Ryman Health Care, Nichols Family Law, GHD, Morgan Stanley, supported the event behind the scenes
The charities supported : Give Every Child a Future; McAuley House and Justice Connects.
The International Women’s Day Event 2021 feedback was very positive.
Many organizations and Rotary Clubs took up the opportunity to reach out to their community and their workforce by holding their own event with viewing the video event we created.

"What you walk past is what you accept. Be aware of how your shadow appears to other women… know your shadow and its impact. Remember how courageous women have been. Stand on the shoulders of those before us."

"Life can be overwhelming, empower yourself with small actions, they can become a huge action when multiplied. Listen to women, listen to what they say."

"If you want a seat at the table, tell people. Use your voice at the table, seek support from others at that table and be brave for those who don't have a voice."

"We need gender equity to have gender equality. Be a ‘have-a-goer’, keep having a go - think about changing the rules. Women need to lean in and men need to lean out."
